GRAND OPENING & RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY

Gatton Park on the Town Branch warmly invites families, friends, and community members of all ages to join us for a joyful day of celebration. Gatton Park leadership, Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton, and special guests will kick off the festivities and officially unveil the park with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Whether you’re here to witness this historic moment or simply enjoy an afternoon in the park, there will be something for everyone to celebrate and enjoy. We can’t wait to welcome you to Gatton Park—your new favorite spot in Lexington!

Gates to the Spendthrift Farm Great Lawn open at 11:30 AM, with the ribbon-cutting ceremony kicking off promptly at 12:00 PM. The park will officially open to the public immediately following the ceremony.

COME CONNECT & COME EXPLORE

Celebrate Gatton Park’s opening day with a vibrant celebration featuring interactive activities, hands-on crafts, storytimes, face painting, and browse local vendors—all designed to connect people through nature and culture. Families can explore the new Adventure Playground and Water Play area, while four-legged friends are invited to romp and play in the brand-new dog parks designed both both small and large breeds.

Don’t miss the unveiling of four stunning new art pieces by local, national, and internationally acclaimed artists, adding a vibrant creative touch to this beautiful new space.

Throughout the day, the spirit of the community takes center stage with a showcase of the sounds and movements that embody Kentucky’s unique creative spirit.

The celebration culminates with a special performance by proud Kentucky native and American Idol winner Noah Thompson.
